Our 2 Year Olds
Toddlers are a very special group of children who are unique! The year from turning 2 to 3 years old is a time of rapid learning
and changing. At Play and Learn, we capitalize on the uniqueness by offering a learning, caring environment where nurturing and
physical affection are freely given.
We further enhance that uniqueness by offering a low teacher/child ratio. This allows time for positive interaction between the
teacher and toddler. This is essential for bonding and building self-esteem. Psychologists state that proper bonding is a
prerequisite for building sound relationships that will last a lifetime. Individual development and growth are key concepts in our
toddler program. All children are given opportunities to increase their gross and fine motor skills through exploration of various
manipulative materials and developmentally appropriate toys and equipment.
Self-help skills such as feeding themselves, potty training, dressing, independence and self-confidence are fostered in our young
toddlers. We offer activities for toddlers to explore their world through art, music, and creative movement in a challenging and
stimulating environment. Music and songs also captivate our toddlers.
Each day, children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills through active exploration in
learning centers and during group time. Language, math, science, and art activities, appropriate for each age group, are built into
each days lesson plan.
