Our curriculum is custom-designed by Play and Learn for the exclusive use of our students.  It is based on current educational research

A wide variety of activities are offered to the child with these three main goals as the foundation of the curriculum:

We provide a "hands-on" learning curriculum consistent with the standards of excellence set by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children.  Some readiness skills covered include hands-on computer use, music, numbers, letters, colors and
shapes, art and crafts; all of which build association and dexterity skills.  Curriculum is built around monthly themes, chosen for their
meaningfulness to children and their natural environment.

Preschool children are very inquisitive and their confidence is growing daily.  Because preschoolers are eager to learn, they need the
opportunity to develop in an environment that is based upon their unique development and learning styles.  This type of learning is referred to
as "Developmentally Appropriate Practices”.  Our program is based on this very important concept that will consider each child's strengths,
interests, and needs.  Our program offers your child an environment that stimulates their development through learning centers.  The
curriculum offers activities in each of the learning centers so that your child will learn math, language, fine and gross motor skills, and
computer experience preparing them for future success in school.

When it comes to learning, kids do best when they're having fun.  With that in mind, we've rounded out our custom curriculum with special
activities,  educational games, and programs including
Hooked on Phonics     Achieve    , and Advantage   .

Learning to read begins in a print-rich environment long before children can interpret words.  Our students are provided with many
opportunities to see how reading and writing are useful before they are instructed in basic skills, such as identifying letters, sounds, and
words.  As their skills develop, your child will have the opportunity to practice their writing skills by creating journals about their day, writing
simple stories and labeling their art projects.  You may even get a hand written note from your child telling you all about the activities that
he/she learned at Play and Learn.

to help each child grow in positive self-esteem and self-understanding through enjoyable, effective social relationships; to help
each child grow in understanding, knowledge and appreciation of the world in which he or she lives;
to help each child grow in understanding, knowledge and appreciation of the world in which he or she lives;
to help each child experience success and confidence in acquiring the skills necessary for entrance into kindergarten
Curriculum planning includes “free play”, singing and other musical  activities, painting and arts and crafts, story - time, dramatic role-play,
motor-skills, social studies, etc.  The teaching of age-related cognitive skills is a regular part of the preschool day.

The curriculum is built around changing
themes (topics) related to the child’s everyday world - in the family, in the preschool, in the city, or in
the wider social environment.  In addition, we will have Core Values and Virtues (like work, courage, responsibility, and manners) that we will
be learning about every month.

Term I also focuses on events in Fall and Winter, while Term II covers Spring and early Summer events.  Term III covers the majority of the
Summer events.  Parents are kept informed of these topics and ways in which they can participate at school and at home with these themes.  
Regular attendance is important so that the child may more fully benefit from the interrelated activities.

“When I Do, I Learn”  Readiness to learn is not only determined by the developmental levels of the child, but by the
educational environment.  Maximum learning can occur when the child is actively involved in the learning process.  
In this context, early childhood specialists agree unanimously that play is fundamental to the young child’s total
development and learning.
